Communication & opportunity
English classes (ESOL)
The English project within our organisation is part of our effort to strengthen members’ communication skills and support their personal and professional development. The main idea is that English is not just a school subject, but a tool that opens the door to new opportunities, especially within an organisation that works with communities, volunteers, or international projects.
The yoga and dance project within our organisation is part of our effort to strengthen members’ artistic and cultural skills while supporting their personal and professional development. The main idea is that art and dance are not only creative activities, but powerful tools that open the door to new opportunities, especially within an organisation that works with communities, volunteers, or international projects.
Through our Embroidery Workshop, we aim to offer a space where creativity, patience, and personal expression become tools for growth. This project is part of our organisation’s commitment to promoting artistic skills and strengthening cultural connection among our members. Embroidery not only develops manual abilities, but also encourages focus, collaboration, and a sense of community, especially within an environment that works with volunteers, families, and international projects.
Our Emergency & Care Kids Packages provide practical, carefully prepared support for children and young people experiencing difficult or urgent circumstances. Each package brings together useful care items to help meet immediate needs while offering families reassurance, dignity, and the knowledge that their community is standing beside them.
Our Food Boxes provide essential groceries to individuals and families who may be facing difficult circumstances. This support is available to people including asylum seekers, refugees, those experiencing homelessness, and people receiving benefits such as Universal Credit or a pension. Our aim is to help ensure that everyone can access essential food items when they need them most, with support delivered respectfully and without judgement.
Our organisation offers football and softball projects designed to support and strengthen our community. These activities provide a fun, safe, and inclusive space where children, young people, and families can stay active, learn new skills, and connect with others. Everyone is welcome to join and be part of a positive, supportive environment.
At Roots for Change UK, we offer a Stop Smoking programme designed to support members of our community who want to quit smoking and improve their health. We provide a safe, respectful, and inclusive space where participants can receive guidance, motivation, and practical tools to move towards a healthier life.
In 2026, Roots for Change UK began providing direct support to vulnerable communities in Uganda, particularly children and families facing urgent needs.
Working with our on-site coordinator, Joel Odiya, we help deliver food, clothing and hygiene supplies. This locally coordinated approach helps support dignity and wellbeing while we build a humanitarian partnership intended to endure over time.
We remain committed to transparency, compassion and the belief that every child deserves opportunities for a safer and brighter future.
Our seasonal projects are more than one-day celebrations. They give families time to enjoy food, activities and thoughtful moments together, while helping children, parents and community members feel recognised, included and connected.
